In 1946, under the Hill-Burton program the US Congress approved over 6 Billion
dollars in Federal grants and loans for construction and modernization of hospitals
in thousands of communities to assist in return for the Federal funds these
medical provider are required to provide free and affordable medical care.
Each Hill-Burton
Facility can chose what type of services it provides and has to post a
notice “NOTICE – Medical Care for those who cannot afford to pay” in
the Admission’s Office. These facilities include hospitals, nursing homes,
clinics and health care providers.
Who qualifies ?
- If you do not currently have private or Government insurance coverage
- If your income is less then the Poverty
Guideline your care is FREE
- If your income id greater then, but not more then double of Poverty
Guideline your care Hill-Burton facilities may provide you with services
at reduced charges or free. The facility must give you Individual Notice
which will tell you whether you may qualify for free care.
